The Minnesota Wind Chill Foundation Launches New Programs to Empower Youth Through Ultimate Frisbee

Saint Paul, MINN. (February 18, 2025) - The 2024 Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA) Champion Minnesota Wind Chill are excited to build on their on-field momentum this past season by establishing the Minnesota Wind Chill Foundation to introduce more Minnesota youth to the fast-growing sport of ultimate frisbee. With a mission to empower young athletes through education, outreach, and accessible programs, the Foundation is committed to fostering physical health, teamwork, and essential life skills in an inclusive and supportive environment.

“Our goal is to break down barriers to youth participation and provide more meaningful opportunities for youth to engage with ultimate frisbee,” said Steve Sabes, President of the Minnesota Wind Chill Foundation. “By providing funding, partnering with schools and teams, introducing no-cost community programming, and engaging Minnesota Wind Chill players; we hope to make the sport more accessible and inspire the next generation of athletes.”

The Foundation is excited to introduce three new programs, with more still to be introduced, that will transform the ultimate frisbee landscape in Minnesota:

  • Grants for Minnesota Youth Ultimate Frisbee Teams – The Foundation is investing in the development and supporting the growth of Minnesota ultimate frisbee programs by providing financial grants and equipment, including Professional Ultimate Frisbees, to both new and existing teams.

  • Partner with the Pros to Recruit More Players – The Foundation is taking a more active role in increasing the awareness of ultimate frisbee in Minnesota and helping programs recruit more players by partnering with teams, schools and Minnesota Wind Chill players to introduce ultimate frisbee to students during the school day.

  • Fundraise at a Minnesota Wind Chill Game – The Foundation will provide a variety of fundraising opportunities for youth ultimate frisbee programs to raise money during games this season.

The Minnesota Wind Chill Foundation invites any student, teacher, parent, administrator, coach, board member or other supporter of an ultimate frisbee youth team to take advantage of these opportunities. Applications for grants and partnership opportunities are now open for a limited time. For more information or to apply, visit https://watchufa.com/windchill/foundation.
