Throughout the UFA season, there are typically dozens of noteworthy individual performances every week. But only seven special efforts can earn their way onto the weekly "Honor Roll", highlighting the best of the best across the Association.
Players are listed alphabetically by last name.
Malik Auger-Semmar, Montreal Royal
With a dozen assists, seven goals, and two blocks across two games over the weekend, Malik Auger-Semmar continued to remind everyone that he’s relentlessly explosive, versatile, and a tough matchup for any defense to contain. No one in the UFA has more scores through three weeks than Auger-Semmar, who produced 11 of those scores—six assists and five goals—in the Royal’s Sunday afternoon victory in Pittsburgh. His 475 receiving yards against the Thunderbirds—on the second day of a back-to-back—ranks as the second-highest receiving yard total in the league so far this season. While the Royal precariously sit at 1-3 in the East, they do have six of their final eight games at home, beginning this Saturday when they welcome the reigning UFA champs into Claude Robillard Stadium.
Chander Boyd-Fliegel, Oakland Spiders (Pictured)
Considering that the Spiders’ defense has produced 59 breaks in the first four games of the season, Oakland’s O-line hasn’t had nearly as many chances to shine. But the team’s offense has been rock-solid too, getting broken only seven times in those four games. And while it’s tough to isolate a single performer amidst the team’s balanced attack, Chander Boyd-Fliegel’s Week 3 performance did stand out. The rookie out of Oregon produced seven scores with a season-high 213 receiving yards on Sunday in his homecoming game against the Steel. He also added five scores and nearly 400 total yards in Saturday’s 10-goal win over Seattle. The Spiders’ cutter also completed all three of his hucks on the weekend, improving to 4-for-4 on hucks on the season.
Max Gibson, San Diego Growlers
Like so many of his Growler teammates, Max Gibson was super clutch in a bunch of big moments in San Diego’s tantalizing one-goal win over Atlanta on Saturday night. He finished the day with three assists and two blocks, but the stats barely measure his overall impact and timely playmaking across 11 D-points and 7 O-points. While the Growlers only led by one at halftime, Gibson’s block set up the first break of the second half to double the lead and halt the Hustle’s quest for the equalizer. Later in the third, with San Diego again leading by just one, he outmuscled his Atlanta defender in the deep space to haul in Bryce Lozinski’s huck, then casually delivered a perfect lefty backhand to KJ Koo to again give the Growlers a two-goal lead. Plays like this helped San Diego stay ahead and earn this signature victory over the visiting Hustle, a monumental result for the Growlers as they strive to stay in the mix near the top of the super contentious South Division.
George Gust, Austin Sol
Who leads the UFA in blocks through three weeks? Major kudos if you already knew that it’s rookie George Gust, the 18-year-old high school senior who's registered multiple blocks in each of his first three games in the league for the Austin Sol. On Saturday against Houston, Gust tallied three more blocks, giving him eight on the season, and chipped in with two assists and one goal in the Sol’s 28-15 rout over the Havoc. One might say there’s a Lukas Ambrose vibe with the young Gust, as Ambrose recorded 24 blocks as a rookie with the Aviators in 2023. But Ambrose was already 24 years old that season, and he only produced two blocks in his first three games in the league. In fact, Gust is the first UFA rookie to produce eight blocks in his first three games since a guy named Tobe Decraene, who also had eight blocks in his first three games with Montreal in 2024. Only seven other players in the league—to be clear, not limited to just rookies—have had this many blocks in the first three games of a season this decade.
Carter Lankford, Oakland Spiders
Speaking of blocks, how about Carter Lankford! The second-year Spider secured a new career-best with five blocks on Sunday against Steel, giving him seven blocks total over the course of Oakland’s 2-0 weekend. Between his two seasons in the league, Lankford—who’s still also playing college ultimate with Cal—has 25 blocks in 12 games, including the playoffs. A member of last year’s All-Defense Second Team and All-Rookie Second Team, it feels entirely possible that Lankford is just scratching the surface of his potential at the pro level as one of many supremely talented young defenders on the Spiders roster that’s simply suffocating opposing offenses so far this season.
Luke Rehfuss, DC Breeze
Alphabetically, the last two spots on the "Honor Roll" belong to the duo that helped to pull off the greatest UFA heist we’ve seen in some time. Luke Rehfuss doesn’t touch the frisbee that frequently, but when he does, it usually means something good has happened for the Breeze. With 13 seconds left in overtime, he was entrusted with the responsibility of hassling the handlers to try and disrupt the timing of the Empire’s last-second heave. And then, in a blink of an eye, he recognized the poor throw that created the unbelievable scoring opportunity, bolting into the end zone and leaping to his peak of his personal vertical to rip down the stunning game-stealing score. It was easily the most memorable goal of his career, and it could end up being the defining scoring sequence of the entire season across the league.
Wiebe van den Brink, DC Breeze
Of course, Rehfuss’s heroics don’t happen if not for the alertness, athleticism, and instincts of Wiebe van den Brink, the 22-year-old Dutch import who Breeze Coach Xavier Maxstadt insisted—in a conversation last Friday—would make ‘many more big plays in the future.’ But even the most clairvoyant coach could not have predicted that van den Brink would come up with an absolutely unforgettable D and dime to win the game in the closing moments of overtime in just his third ever UFA game. It was a sequence that will live forever in the DC-New York lexicon, another magical and miraculous buzzer-beating highlight to add to the all-time rivalry reel. And an early birthday present for van den Brink, who turns 23 this coming Sunday. What might the young European do next?
