Saint Paul, MINN. (February 17, 2025) - The 2024 Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA) Champion Minnesota Wind Chill have welcomed Steve Sabes as an additional owner of the team. Steve will also be the President of the Minnesota Wind Chill Foundation, set to launch this month.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Steve to the Minnesota Wind Chill family,” said team owner and general manager Ben Feldman. “His expertise will help the team grow as a business, reach new fans, and develop core youth programs through our new foundation.”
The objective of the Minnesota Wind Chill Foundation is to establish platforms on and off the field that foster positive development of youth throughout the Minneapolis–Saint Paul community. Through the dynamic sport of ultimate frisbee, children will learn about teamwork and leadership skills, improve their physical health, and grow personal connections in an inclusive, fun environment. The foundation will also support existing organizations in the community, including Minnesota Ultimate, to increase awareness and participation of the sport across the state.
After earning a BA from The Colorado College and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota, Steve began his career as a drug discovery scientist at Shionogi BioResearch in Boston. He later transitioned to entrepreneurship, co-founding and working for two NASDAQ-listed companies. Throughout his entrepreneurial career, Steve has served in various leadership roles—including board member, president, COO, and treasurer—building companies, underwriting assets, and creating positive impacts for his businesses, employees, and local communities. In addition to his business ventures, Steve serves on the board of two private foundations (separate from the Minnesota Wind Chill Foundation). A Hopkins/Minnetonka native currently residing in Edina, Steve is an avid sports enthusiast who enjoys playing various sports, including hockey, basketball, golf, alpine skiing, and disc golf, as well as following local college and professional teams.
In 2024, the Minnesota Wind Chill won their first UFA Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah, by defeating the Carolina Flyers 17-16. The Wind Chill won their first title in franchise history and also become the first men’s professional team in Minnesota to win a title since 1991.
