UFA Announces Key Updates Following 2025 Owners Meeting

The UFA announced several key decisions emerging from its 2025 Owners Meeting in Chicago, IL this past weekend, outlining important updates for the upcoming 2026 season and beyond.

2026 Championship Weekend Set for August 28–29

The 2026 UFA Championship Weekend will be held Friday, August 28 through Saturday, August 29, 2026. The event will once again showcase the world’s best ultimate frisbee players and the league’s final four division championship teams as they compete for ultimate’s greatest title. The location and event details will be announced soon.

2026 Season to Feature Continued Use of 2025 Game Disc

The league confirmed that the 2025 Professional Ultimate Frisbee will be used as the official UFA disc for the 2026 season. This decision underscores the league’s commitment to consistency and optimal performance.

New Emphasis on Gameplay Integrity: Jersey Pulling Policy Introduced

Beginning with the 2026 season, the UFA will enforce stricter penalties for jersey pulling during gameplay. Any player that pulls an opponent’s jersey during the course of a point will receive an automatic one-game suspension. This includes jersey grabs caught on film during post game reviews. This initiative reflects the league’s ongoing commitment, integrity, fair play and sportsmanship.

2026 Owners Meeting to Convene in Washington, D.C.

The next UFA Owners Meeting will take place in Washington, D.C., home of the D.C. Breeze. The annual conference provides a vital forum for team owners and league leadership to align on competition standards, growth strategies, and the long-term direction of the sport.
