Power Rankings: Week 8

June 19, 2025
By Adam Ruffner

24. Detroit Mechanix (-)
Record: 0-4
Last result: 31-20 (L) vs Madison
Next game: June 21 vs Chicago

Good news: Jake Felton is currently second all-time in UFA history in assists per game (5.7), and is just 14 away from 100 for his career in just 15 pro starts; if Joe Cubitt plays in at least seven of the team’s last eight games this season, he will inherit the top spot in Detroit team history for most games played.

Bad news: The Mechanix’s new losing streak has reached eight consecutive games; Detroit has surrendered 56 goals in their past two losses; through four games this season, the Mechanix have yet to convert at least 70 percent of their red zone chances.

23. Vegas Bighorns (-)
Record: 0-7
Last result: 23-16 (L) vs San Diego
Next game: June 20 at Colorado

Good news: Rookie Brad Ellis has 10 scores* in his last two starts, and is the only Bighorns player besides Joel Clutton to register double digit goals this season; Vegas might be starting to find their footing with their deep game, as they’re 17-of-20 on huck attempts over their past two outings.

Bad news: The Bighorns have a league-worst 19 percent break rate; Week 8 marked the fourth time this season Vegas committed at least 30 turnovers in a game.

* Scores = assists plus goals

22. Indianapolis AlleyCats (-)
Record: 2-4
Last result: 26-14 (L) vs Chicago
Next game: June 21 at Minnesota

Good news: Rookie Samuel Ingham looked like the missing piece in his first start on the ‘Cats offense, tallying five assists, four goals, 36 completions, and 648 total yards of offense; fourth-year striker Seth Gudeman continues to develop his usefulness as a combo player on the Indy O-line, and now has five straight starts with 24 or more completions, the first time in his career he’s approached that level of productivity as a thrower.

Bad news: Indy didn’t just manage zero break scores against the Union in Week 8, the defense only managed one break chance; the AlleyCats have 25 or more turnovers in four of their six games in 2025.

21. Pittsburgh Thunderbirds (-)
Record: 2-5
Last result: 25-16 (L) vs Philadelphia
Next game: June 20 at Chicago

Good news: Second year receiver Marcel Oliart has 13 goals and over 1,200 receiving yards in his last four starts combined; Anson Reppermund notched his 166th block in Thunderbirds uniform last Saturday, putting him nearly 100 blocks ahead of second place in franchise history (Max Sheppard, 69).

Bad news: The average margin of defeat for the Thunderbirds during their current six-game skid is 9.8 goals; Pittsburgh’s deep attack has fallen apart in 2025— they rank last in huck completion percentage (45 percent) while turning it over nearly eight times a game on deep attempts.

20. Seattle Cascades (-)
Record: 2-6
Last result: 23-12 (W) vs Vegas
Next game: June 21 vs Los Angeles

Good news: With three games remaining against the two teams ahead of them in the standings—Colorado (two games) and Oregon (one game)—the Cascades still have snowball’s chance in June to still make the playoffs in the West; Zeppelin Raunig is one good start (seven goals) away from setting the franchise goal record; among the 46 UFA players with at least 40 huck completions in their career, Christian Foster’s 85 percent career completion rate on hucks is first overall by a four percent margin.

Bad news: The Cascades are 0-6 and averaging just four break scores per game against non-Vegas opponents, a mark that would rank 21st for the full season; one more loss in any of their final four games virtually eliminates Seattle from the playoff race.

19. Oregon Steel (-)
Record: 3-6
Last result: 25-9 (L) at Oakland
Next game: June 20 vs Los Angeles

Good news: The Steel completed their second most hucks in a single game in franchise history (14) against the Shred last Friday, with David Barram, Ben Thoennes, and Adam McNichols all completing three deep shots apiece; Nate Knutson is just three goals shy of becoming the third player in franchise history to score 30 goals in a season.

Bad news: Oregon makes the second most mistakes (27) per game in the league this season, and had a whopping 63 turnovers combined in their two Week 8 losses; the Steel defense was just 2-of-12 on break chances against two of the best offenses in the UFA in Salt Lake and Oakland, and now rank 22nd for the season.

18. Houston Havoc (-)
Record: 1-6
Last result: 20-18 (L) at Austin
Next game: June 20 at Carolina

Good news: After finishing last in turnovers in their initial season in 2023, and second worst last year, the Havoc have risen to 16th in turnovers per game in 2025; third-year athlete Jordan Salazar finished with career highs in goals (4) and receiving yards (350) against the Sol last Saturday; veteran swiss army knife Jimmy Zuraw now ranks top two in franchise history in games played, scores, assists, goals, completions, blocks, huck completions, and hockey assists.

Bad news: Houston has lost three in a row since their six-goal win against Colorado on May 16; the Havoc offense has just two performances this season with a 50 percent or better conversion rate.

17. Los Angeles Aviators (-)
Record: 1-5
Last result: 18-17 (L) vs Austin
Next game: June 20 at Oregon

Good news: 39-year-old Michael Kiyoi became just the third member to join LA’s century club for games played, joining Sean McDougall and Mitchell Steiner; with five of the six teams in the South Division already possessing three or more losses, and the Aviators having zero remaining games against Atlanta or Carolina, there is a (chaotic) path to the postseason.

Bad news: LA has made just one playoff appearance in their last four seasons of play; the Aviators are one of just six teams giving up eight or more breaks per game.

16. Madison Radicals (-)
Record: 4-3
Last Result: 31-20 (W) at Detroit
Next game: June 27 vs Detroit

Good news: Madison native and first-year Radical Kainoa Chun-Moy is having a breakout year on his fourth team in five pro seasons; the Radicals are averaging nearly 13 takeaways per game in their last five games; it took just seven games this season, but Anthony Gutowsky already hit 30 goals for the third straight time in his career.

Bad news: The Radicals scored just 32 goals combined in their first matchups against Chicago and Minnesota, and posted just a 40 percent offensive success rate against the division’s best; Minnesota’s win last Friday night not only snapped an eight-game home winning streak for the Radicals, it was the Wind Chill’s fourth straight victory at Breese Stevens Field.

15. Montreal Royal (-2)
Record: 3-5
Last result: 16-15 (L, 2OT) vs Boston
Next game: June 27 at DC

Good news: Kevin Quinlan became the first player on Royal history to reach 100 games played; Quinlan also moved into third all-time in UFA history with 144 total career games; Christophe Tremblay-Joncas has nearly tripled his previous career high in assists in eight starts this season.

Bad news: The once high flying Royal offensive attack has hit quick sand in their last two outings, converting on just 24-of-69 (35 percent) of their offensive possessions in two Ls; Montreal has 33 huck attempts compared to just 16 red zone possessions over their last two games, which highlights the team’s penchant for (and over reliance on) the longball.

14. Toronto Rush (-2)
Record: 2-5
Last result: 26-23 (L) vs Boston
Next game: June 20 at New York (Friday Night Frisbee)

Good news: The Rush have a top-four offense with Ty Barbieri, Tom Blasman, Arvids Karklins, and James Lewis running the show, and the team is averaging nearly 23 goals per game over their last five; Toronto is not only the most efficient team inside the red zone this season, but they currently have the highest mark ever (87.6 percent) since the stat began in 2021; the Rush have 17 or fewer turnovers in four straight outings.

Bad news: Toronto can do nothing to slow down opposing hucks, and Rush opponents are completing a ridiculous 75 percent of their huck attempts in 2025, tops in the UFA; outside of their 15-break performance against the Royal in Week 7, the Rush are converting under four break per game in their other six games this season.

13. San Diego Growlers (-2)
Record: 6-3
Last result: 23-16 (W) at Vegas
Next game: June 28 vs Oakland

Good news: San Diego can equal their combined win total from the past two seasons with their next victory; Matt Miller is averaging over two huck completions per game over his last seven starts; the Growlers have three straight games with 10 or more huck completions; Travis Dunn is one of just three players to register 15,000 career receiving yards, joining Jacob Fairfax and Ben Jagt.

Bad news: San Diego faces Oakland in two of their final three games; following seven straight games with 17 or fewer turns, the Growlers recorded 23 mistakes in Vegas, their second highest total of the season.

12. Philadelphia Phoenix (+2)
Record: 4-4
Last result: 25-16 (W) at Pittsburgh
Next game: June 28 vs Montreal

Good news: Philly’s win against Pittsburgh to retain the Commonwealth Cup, coupled with their head-to-head tiebreaker against DC, vaulted the Phoenix into second place in the East Division standings; the Phoenix had a season low 10 turnovers and their best counterattack game in franchise history (12-of-14 on break chances) in Week 8; Sean Mott became the fourth member in UFA history of the 400-assist Club.

Bad news: Philadelphia faces Montreal before closing their season against a three-game gauntlet of Boston, New York, and DC; opponents have the fifth highest offensive success rate against the Phoenix this season.

11. DC Breeze (-3)
Record: 4-4
Last result: 19-18 (L, 2OT) at New York
Next game: June 27 vs Montreal

Good news: Aidan Downey on offense looks like the field stretcher and playmaker their O-line has been lacking in the first half of the season; DC has back-to-back games with a 70 percent offensive success rate or better; Jeff Wodatch is two games away from 100 for his career in DC; in what might be his final pro season, 36-year-old Rowan McDonnell leads the team in scoring through eight games.

Bad news: The Breeze have their most regular season losses since 2019; DC has had four games with five or more turnovers inside the red zone, including their Week 8 double overtime loss; the Breeze had one such game in 2024 in their semifinals loss to Minnesota.

10. New York Empire (+5)
Record: 4-5
Last result: 19-18 (W, 2OT) vs DC
Next game: June 20 vs Toronto (Friday Night Frisbee)

Good news: Even with Ben Jagt playing his worst game of the season, the offensive engine centered around him and John Randolph, Jack Williams, Calvin Brown, and Solomon Rueschemeyer-Bailey had that championship toughness and ability in the clutch; Williams showed for the first time in 2025 that he still has a next gear that allows him to take over possessions; New York finishes their final three games at home, where they’ve lost just twice since 2019.

Bad news: Even with the epic win in Week 8 against the Breeze, DC still owns the head-to-head tiebreaker against New York this year; it took a vintage Williams performance, six quarters, and acts of almost divine intervention for the Empire to claw out last week’s win and avoid their sixth loss of the season.

9. Colorado Summit (+1)
Record: 3-2
Last result: 24-21 (W) vs Oakland
Next game: June 20 vs Vegas

Good news: With seven games remaining over the final five weekends of the regular season, the Summit will have a chance to build a big runway to a potentially deep playoff run; Noah Coolman has three straight starts with at least four scores and two blocks; Colorado is in the top third of the league in takeaways this year, averaging two more per game versus 2024.

Bad news: Alex Atkins is possibly sidelined with an injury after a hot start on defense; the Summit commit the second most turnovers per game among teams with winning records this season.

8. Carolina Flyers (+1)
Record: 3-4
Last result: 21-19 (W) vs Atlanta
Next game: June 20 vs Houston

Good news: Carolina has the most efficient counterattack in the league in 2025 after finishing 12th last year; Terrence Mitchell and Jacob Fairfax are the only pair of active teammates in the league with a minimum of 400 career scores; the Flyers also have the fourth highest offensive success rate.

Bad news: The Flyers will be without two of their top throwers in Week 9 in Laviolette and Rutledge Smith; despite their high conversion rate, Carolina’s defense scores a league average 5.6 breaks per game, nearly two fewer than in 2024.

7. Oakland Spiders (-)
Record: 6-2
Last result: 25-9 (W) vs Oregon
Next game: June 21 vs Vegas

Good news: The Spiders snapped a two-game losing streak and allowed the fewest goals in a single game in franchise history in Week 8 against the Steel; though he’s not quite dealing at the historical production levels of last season, Evan Magsig is still one of the most precise, high-volume passers in the league, and is one of just five players to average at least three assists, 46 completions, and 350 throwing yards per game in 2025; opponents have the lowest break rate in the league against the Spiders.

Bad news: Even with the impressive defensive effort against Oregon, the Spiders still rank in the bottom half of the league in goals allowed; Oakland is just 7-of-19 (42 percent) from deep in their last two home games, including 1-of-7 last Saturday.

6. Salt Lake Shred (-)
Record: 6-1
Last result: 21-19 vs Oregon
Next game: June 27 vs Oakland

Good news: Salt Lake currently has the third longest winning streak in the league behind Austin and Boston; the Shred are one of just six teams in 2025 to average eight or more breaks per game; Chad and McKay Yorgason are the Gotenks of the league right now, averaging nine scores, 72 completions, and over 1,000 yards of production together each game; Salt Lake’s O-line has three games with at least a 70 percent success rate.

Bad news: The Shred had a similar first half sprint to six wins last season before stumbling in the second half of the schedule; opponents are completing the fourth highest percentage of hucks (68.6 percent) against Salt Lake this season.

5. Atlanta Hustle (-)
Record: 6-3
Last result: 21-19 (L) at Carolina
Next game: June 21 vs Houston

Good news: Austin Taylor is just 12 assists—or three games by his averages—short of cracking into the top 10 all-time; Atlanta has been first in offensive success rate in back-to-back seasons, and was third in 2023, marking one of the more historic three-year stretches in UFA history; Brett Hulsmeyer is now over 11,000 career receiving yards with back-to-back-to-back 300-yard performances.

Bad news: Atlanta’s defense is quietly porous against top offenses, and a big reason why is that they can’t seem to stop the huck, surrendering the third highest opponent huck rate (69.7 percent) this season; shocking stat of the week is that the Hustle are dead last in the league in takeaways with just 7.3 per game.

4. Minnesota Wind Chill (-)
Record: 5-1
Last result: 22-16 (W) at Madison
Next game: June 21 vs Indianapolis

Good news: Two straight games with 11 break scores and 14 or more blocks; defensive stalwart Tristan Van de Moortele is having a career year in his fourth season with the team, registering blocks in five of his six starts as a handler defender; the reigning champs have been razor sharp with short field opportunities, and are second in the league in red zone conversion rate; Minnesota leads the league in break rate.

Bad news: Minnesota ranks outside of the top 10 in turnovers per game, and they had double digit turnovers on hucks alone at Madison in Week 8; the Wind Chill still face a must-win on July 4 at Chicago in order to avoid facing the Union on the road for the divisional title; Minnesota is 0-2 at Chicago in Central Division championship games.

3. Austin Sol (-)
Record: 7-0
Last Result: 20-18 (W) vs Houston
Next game: June 27 at Atlanta

Good news: The emergence of first-year Sol player Myles Armstrong as a reliable fourth throwing option has only allowed more freedom for Kyle Henke, Jackson Potts, and the league’s most underrated player Eric Brodbeck to activate as receivers; if Austin can win three of its final five games, they will guarantee themselves a first round bye and a home game for the South Division championship; Sol opponents have the third lowest completion percentage this season.

Bad news: Austin is on the road for four of their final five games, and they still have three remaining matchups against Atlanta (once) and Carolina (twice); even with back-to-back impressive performances, the Sol offense sits just outside the top 10 in success rate.

2. Chicago Union (-)
Record: 4-0
Last Result: 26-14 (W) at Indianapolis
Next game: June 20 vs Pittsburgh

Good news: The most an opponent has scored on Chicago this season is 18 goals, and that was the league’s best offense (Atlanta) taking the Union to double overtime; Chicago is holding opponents to an abysmal 25 percent completion rate on hucks; Nate Goff’s expanded throwing game since his last stint with the Union in 2023, coupled with the power increase of the new frisbee, has transformed him into a true weapon with the disc in his hands.

Bad news: Chicago has committed four red zone turnovers in back-to-back outings, which isn’t a huge deal in June for this undefeated juggernaut, but could be a place of concern come playoffs if it’s not addressed.

1. Boston Glory (-)
Record: 7-0
Last Result: 26-23 (W) at Toronto
Next game: June 21 vs Toronto (Game Of The Week)

Good news: After an eight-block bonanza up in Canada in Week 8, reigning MVP Jeff Babbitt suddenly leads the league in takeaways just past the midway mark of the regular season; Tobe Decraene is not stoppable on offense, only containable, and has at least eight scores in each of his last three games; Boston’s offense has been sailing in their last three games, converting on 66 percent of their possessions.

Bad news: Glory needed double overtime and several late Montreal miscues to escape with the win last Saturday, and then one of Babbitt’s best defensive performances and a second half rally to defeat Toronto on Sunday.
