New Divisional Alignment Set For 2025 UFA Season

January 9, 2025

The Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA) will feature a new divisional alignment for the 2025 season. Earlier this offseason, the Dallas Legion suspended operations and the Vegas Bighorns officially joined the league last week. The East, South, Central and West divisions will remain intact, but various teams will transition to a new division.

The South Division will continue to host the Atlanta Hustle, Austin Sol, Carolina Flyers and Houston Havoc, but it will also welcome the Los Angeles Aviators and San Diego Growlers for 2025. This new alignment optimizes travel opportunities, while also setting up intriguing interdivisional matchups for nearby teams–Altanta and Carolina in the South, Austin and Houston in the Central, and Los Angeles and San Diego in the West.

The new Vegas Bighorns will join the West Division, along with the incumbent Colorado Summit, Oakland Spiders, Oregon Steel (formerly Portland Nitro), Salt Lake Shred and Seattle Cascades. The East Division will continue to feature the Boston Glory, D.C. Breeze, Montreal Royal, Philadelphia Phoenix, New York Empire and Toronto Rush. The Chicago Union, Detroit Mechanix, Indianapolis AlleyCats, Pittsburgh Thunderbirds, Madison Radicals and 2024 UFA Champion Minnesota Wind Chill will also remain in the Central Division.

The East, South, Central and West will now showcase six teams each, with the top three seeds in every division advancing to the UFA Playoffs. The 3-seed will visit the 2-seed for the first round matchups, with the winner advancing to play the 1-seed on the road. The four division winners will move on to UFA Championship Weekend for the right to play for the league title.

The Minnesota Wind Chill captured their first championship in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2024. The location of the 2025 UFA Championship Weekend will be announced shortly.
