Championship Weekend is returning to Madison in 2025, and whether you’ve attended a prior Championship Weekend or are looking to plan your first trip, here are five things you should expect on August 22 and 23.
Massive Crowd at Breese Stevens Field
There’s a reason Madison is referred to as the “Capital City of Ultimate.” Since the Madison Radicals first began play in 2013, the crowds drawn by the Radicals and UFA at Breese Stevens Field have consistently been among the most impressive in league history. Located in downtown Madison just a few blocks from the Capitol, Breese has seen attendance numbers exceed 5,000 in prior Championship Weekends and will once again see thousands of fans through the gate in 2025. The Radicals set a franchise record last year averaging 1,200 fans per game (most in the league), and with die-hard fan bases traveling more and more each year to support their teams, we could see record-setting attendance totals this August.
The Best Teams
If last year proved anything, it’s that the league’s competitive landscape is at an all-time high and we could be in for even more parity in 2025. One could argue the presence of at least three legitimate contenders at the top of each division going into the new season, so we’re truly going to be seeing the best of the best in Madison come August. With several blockbuster signings and high-profile player movement already making headlines this offseason, 2025 is shaping up to be the most competitive, chaotic, and unpredictable season yet.
Historic Moments
Will Chen’s full-field buzzer-beating throw and “The Block” in 2016. KPS’s buzzer-beating grab and Madison’s first ever league title in 2018. John Randolph’s end of quarter hand block sequence and Jeff Babbitt’s buzzer beater sky in 2022. On an elevated stage in a packed venue, some of the most iconic moments in league history have taken place during Championship Weekend at Breese Stevens Field. 2025 is sure to add another handful of plays—and maybe another first-time champion—to the venue’s legendary resume.
Endless Energy and Entertainment
Aside from the most entertaining on-field action you’ll see all season, 2025 Championship Weekend will feature non-stop excitement for fans in attendance. Donnie the Flag Guy will keep the crowd hyped all game (look forward to loads of t-shirt and frisbee giveaways), mini-games and on-field entertainment will keep the energy going at quarter breaks, and all fans in attendance can enjoy a new lineup of sponsor activations and sideline activities. Concessions and beer will be available throughout the weekend, and the merchandise tent will feature both Championship Weekend and team-specific gear from the four semifinalists. At the end of each night, join in the Breese tradition of tossing a frisbee on the turf, get autographs, meet the players, and enjoy one of the best gameday atmospheres in pro ultimate.
VIP Experience
The new VIP suite at 2025 Championship Weekend will be stocked with unlimited beer and pizza and will offer a field-level, front-row view of all the action. VIP tickets will also include access to the stadium’s cash bar for additional beverage options. Group ticket experiences are also available; get your own private suite, or take over the rooftop party deck above the west end zone.
