With another dominant defensive performance, the Boston Glory clinched their first UFA championship with a 17-15 win over the defending champion Minnesota Wind Chill. Tobe Decraene won Championship Weekend MVP honors for his stellar offensive performances, and finished the weekend with 16 assists and nearly 900 total yards over two games.

“This one is just something else,” said Jeff Babbitt, who claimed his fourth professional title in nine seasons. “I couldn’t be happier to do it with this group.”

Boston allowed only 32 goals total and committed just 23 turnovers combined across their two games at Championship Weekend, with possession, discipline, and patience once again being the hallmarks of their success. But the keystone piece of the Glory’s championship run was the ruthless efficiency of their D-line, who converted on an astonishing 16-of-18 (89 percent!) on break chances over the weekend; Boston finished the postseason with eight break scores in each of the three playoff wins.

“Tonight was your fourth championship,” broadcaster Evan Lepler said to Babbitt in the postgame interview. “Are you excited to go for number five with this team next year?”

“I guess you just made me commit, huh Evan?” replied Babbitt.

“Yeah, I’ll go for five with them.”
