Following the announcement earlier this fall of new ownership and a team rebrand, the Oregon Steel unveiled their new logo. Inspired by the native Steelhead fish, the logo represents a firm connection to the local environment, symbolizing the team’s strength, perseverance, and adaptability in the face of challenges.
“This wasn’t a change we took lightly,” said team co-owner Darci Fredricks back in September. The Oregon franchise came into the UFA in 2022, and have earned a 4-32 record over three seasons of play.
Fredricks and fellow co-owner Bill Freeman see the Steel as a part of a larger vision for ultimate frisbee within the state of Oregon. The two have already formed the Oregon Ultimate Alliance (OUA), which will manage both pro franchises in the Steel and the Oregon Soar, the latter of which will join the Western Ultimate League in 2025. The OUA will also endeavor to provide "youth development platforms, fan engagement, and community relations" within their local scene.
The 2025 UFA season begins next April.
