UFA Announces Two Youth Professional Ultimate Camps in 2024

December 21, 2023

The American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) has announced two youth Professional Ultimate Academy Camps in 2024, one in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and one in the Seattle, Washington area presented alongside the Western Ultimate League (WUL). Each session is a weeklong, overnight camp for experienced youth ultimate players who have a desire to learn from the best and to play in the professional ultimate disc leagues in the future. The inaugural Academy was held in 2023, also in Grand Rapids.

“Our first Academy exceeded expectations,” said AUDL Director of Youth Engagement and Player Relations Matt Smith. “We had great attendance, welcoming girls and boys from across the United States and Canada. The league is beyond excited to go back to Michigan and open a new camp out west with the help of our Seattle Cascades and the WUL.”

The “Professional Ultimate Academy East” presented by the AUDL takes place July 14-19, 2024, at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The camp, open to advanced ultimate players ages 15-18, will feature professional instructors, state-of-the-art facilities, access to athletic trainers throughout training sessions, and more. Registration for this academy is open now.

The “Professional Ultimate Academy West” presented by the AUDL and WUL will be held at Camp Casey on Whidbey Island in Washington on August 11-17, 2024. This camp is for advanced high school juniors and seniors as well as rising college freshman and it aims to provide quality instruction and prepare participants for a future in professional ultimate. The program will also feature professional instructors, as well as an introduction to strength training, film study, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) discussions. Registration for this academy is also open now.

The WUL was established to advance the sport of ultimate by showcasing and amplifying women and non-binary athletes. The mission of the league is to increase accessibility, promote the visibility of underrepresented athletes, cultivate a culture of inclusion and equity, and use the league’s influence and platform to broaden the spaces where the sport grows and develops. The WUL features six teams located throughout the western United States, with the regular season beginning in March.
