The American Ultimate Disc League, guided by a diligent Covid-19 task force of doctors, epidemiologists and healthcare professionals, has developed a safe return to play concept and plans to host a bubble tournament that enables a limited season to occur in 2020. This tournament would be played without fans in attendance.
The potential new format would take place August 8-16 in Westfield, IN at the Grand Park sports complex—the official home of the Indianapolis Colts training camp—which provides a spacious and isolated environment for practice, game play and accommodation. The AUDL is currently in the process of eliciting feedback from its teams, players, staff and officials to determine the viability of this concept.
No player, official or staff member will be pressured to participate, and there will be no negative sentiment towards those who face higher risk for personal or family situations, or are not otherwise comfortable attending.
Key concepts
-
Mandatory Covid-19 test the week of departure for Grand Park
-
Mandatory Covid-19 test on arrival at the facilities for every individual, as well as mandatory quarantine in hotel room until determination of test results; maximum of two (2) persons per room; players must continue to follow the Covid Policy and Procedure document that was created for players when returning to training.
-
Partnership with nearby hospital group to manage the testing and timely reporting process
-
Any positive test will result in an immediate care response and isolating the individual from the rest of the players and staff
-
