The American Ultimate Disc League is proud to announce the acquisition of longtime production partner Fulcrum Media. Fulcrum will continue to do business as a wholly owned subsidiary of the AUDL and as part of the deal Luke Johnson has accepted the role as the league's Production Director and broadcast expert. The AUDL signed a landmark broadcast deal with Fox Sports earlier this year, and is looking to continue to develop and improve its livestreaming channel AUDL.TV.
"We have traveled the world working with partners big and small in the sport of ultimate," said Johnson. "With the emergence of a global pandemic in early 2020, and the desire by the AUDL to bring their broadcast productions in house, an acquisition of Fulcrum Media was a perfect solution to a difficult year. I am proud to continue the tradition of great storytelling as the AUDL's Production Director, and look forward to what is to come."
Fulcrum Media has been the league's "Game of the Week" live production unit for the past seven seasons. Fulcrum Media is responsible for broadcasting the AUDL's top showcase event each week, giving the sport of ultimate a level of presentation that had not been achieved before.
"We’ve been working with Luke and Fulcrum since 2013 and have always appreciated the effort the team has put into improving the production level and being a great partner." said AUDL President of Media and Marketing Tim DeByl. "We are very excited to have Luke with the league full-time, and plan on having Fulcrum continue to help the entire ultimate community."
Additionally, the league is excitedly adding four more employees to its league office:
Christina Chung - Chief Medical Officer
Adam Ruffner - Media Director
Daniel Cohen - Marketing Coordinator
Ashley Kouba - Ticketing Manager
Despite the cancellation of the 2020 AUDL season due to the pandemic, the league is working hard behind the scenes to build out its league infrastructure and initiatives, and is excited for the return of professional ultmate in 2021.
