Empire Take On Tampa Bay For First Time

June, 24 2021

The reigning champion New York Empire are back at Joseph F. Fosina Field this Saturday, June 26 at 7:00pm in New Rochelle. They’ll take on the Tampa Bay Cannons, as they look to extend their two-game win streak to start the season.

Dating back to the start of 2019, the Empire have now won 17 games in a row building on their perfect undefeated season. Saturday’s game will be the first time New York faces off with Tampa Bay; the AUDL’s new Atlantic Division has them competing twice this season for the first time ever.

The Empire don’t seem to have lost a step since their 2019 Championship Game victory, taking down DC and Pittsburgh to start the season. Reigning AUDL MVP Ben Jagt has started the season off strong, with 13 scores in two games. His supporting cast this year consists of several new additions who have made big impacts early, including Jagt’s former University of Minnesota teammate Ryan Osgar, who currently leads the team in assists and total scores. Another new addition, former San Francisco Flamethrower Elliott Chartock, just set the single-game yardage record with 766 combined throwing and receiving yards this past week against Pittsburgh.

This year’s team is as exciting as ever and they've only just begun. Season and single-game tickets are available through the team's official online store.
