Dave Woods never played a full-contact version of Ultimate with high school friends before getting recruited to the college team during his first day on campus. He chose Missouri State University in Springfield, MO, based on the fact that they had an Ultimate team. After five years of playing, 3 years of captaining, and 1 of coaching, he moved after graduate school and played club with Kansas City Prairie Fire for 4 years, playing at Club Nationals for 2 of those years. He then moved to Chicago 2 weeks before tryouts for the Chicago Wildfire, where he found a professional Ultimate career with the Wildfire before he found a professional job. He is now the Head Coach of the Chicago Union.
