CHICAGO — The Chicago Union will return to their home turf at Lazier Field this Saturday, May 16th, where they will host the Minnesota Wind Chill and stake their claim as a Central Division powerhouse. In the season opener on May 2nd, the Union fell to the Minnesota Wind Chill 22-12 in a cold and windy match on the road in Minnesota. This weekend, Chicago eyes a comeback.
After an undefeated 2025 season, an opening day loss to perennial rival the Wind Chill was a setback. However, the Union hope to brush off the loss and reawaken the dominant offense that propelled them to the playoffs last summer. In the opener, the Union were missing crucial pieces of the team, such as veterans Pawel Janas and Jack Shanahan. Both of whom will be back in the lineup for the home opener, giving the team a confidence boost.
Beyond the roster additions, the Union holds another advantage over the Wind Chill—a rest gap. Minnesota will be on the back end of a weekend doubleheader after facing the Indianapolis AlleyCats 24 hours earlier on the 15th. Meanwhile, the Union will have had the opportunity to regroup, rest and prepare for the home opener. Chicago is expected to maintain their high tempo offense and smothering defense to test their opponents from start to finish.
