Colorado Summit Rebrands As Colorado Apex Ahead Of 2026 Season

December 1, 2025

The Colorado Summit of the Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA) have announced an official rebrand to the Colorado Apex, marking a new chapter for Colorado’s premier professional ultimate frisbee team and its growing fan base.

The rebrand reflects the team’s ongoing evolution and success within the UFA, while celebrating the team’s historical connection to Colorado’s mountainous identity.

“We’re excited to continue growing the sport of ultimate frisbee in Colorado,” said Timothy Kefalas, Managing Partner of the Colorado Apex. “We’re embracing a new look and new name, but same elevation attitude!”

Since entering the league as an expansion team in 2022, Colorado has built a reputation as one of the most competitive and community-driven organizations in the UFA. Since their founding, the Colorado franchise has qualified for the playoffs in three of their first four seasons of play, including a West Division title in 2022. At the conclusion of the 2025 season, the Apex gave its original team name–the Summit–to the incoming National Women's Soccer League expansion team, the new Denver Summit FC.

Upon announcing the rebrand, the team received more than 700 submissions for new names, and the ownership group thoughtfully considered how to honor elements of Colorado that the community heralded. From the state's rich biodiversity to its robust aerospace industry, "Apex" seemed to be the most all-encompassing name, symbolizing the grandeur of nature and the persistent strive for excellence. Co-owner Ivy Byun sketched out hundreds of versions before finalizing the new logo, using simple lines to represent the Apex in three ways: the apex of a triangle, the apex of a mountain, and a bear, one of Colorado's apex predators. It is set against a vivid sky and tranquil waters that reflect the mountainscape. The color palette was inspired by the striking colors of Colorado: the brilliant shades of the columbine (state flower), the vibrant hues of expansive sandstone formations, and the snowy peaks of the Rocky Mountains.

With the refreshed visual identity and logo, the Apex aim to represent unity and strengthen their connection with fans across the front range and beyond.

“This is more than a name change–it’s a statement of purpose,” said Sal Pace, co-owner of the Colorado Apex. “We’re committed to representing the very best of Colorado: its passion, its beauty, and its peak potential. The Apex name reflects that spirit.”

The Apex will continue to play their games at Marv Kay Stadium in Golden, Colo. and Pinnacle Athletic Complex in Thornton, CO for the 2026 season. The season schedule will be released in February with the formal season running from the last weekend of April through playoffs in August.
