The Los Angeles Aviators are back at LA Southwest College this Saturday, August 14 at 6:00pm. They’ll take on the San Diego Growlers for the final time this season. 
 
The Aviators and Growlers have a long-running rivalry that began when both franchises were added to the league as 2015 expansion teams. Both teams have made the playoffs each of the last two seasons—in 2018 LA defeated San Diego in the first round, and in 2019 San Diego got their revenge on LA, advancing to their first Championship Weekend in franchise history.  
 
This year the Aviators are 1-2 against their SoCal rivals, most recently falling to the Growlers for the second time this past weekend in San Diego. Now sitting at 4-6, the Aviators have been eliminated from playoff contention, but they could still play spoiler to San Diego’s chances of hosting a home playoff game. A win this Saturday would have San Diego facing a must-win game the final week of the season to secure home field advantage.
