The Latin word for stars, Astra represents our city’s connections to Hollywood and scientific exploration – as well as the team’s desire to always reach for more.

In 2019, the Aviators helped launch a women’s professional ultimate frisbee team called the Ninety-Nines as part of Southern California women’s professional ultimate series. This was the first step to increase the visibility of women’s ultimate in Los Angeles. Now, the Ninety-Nines have flown off on their own and turned into the Astras. Astra is joining the PUL Premiere Ultimate League for the 2025 season.
