CHICAGO–The Chicago Union is pleased to announce the addition of Tim Sinclair as the team’s new public address (PA) announcer!
Sinclair is a well-known voice in Chicago sports, currently serving as the PA announcer for the Chicago Bears (since 2020), Chicago Bulls (since the 2020–21 season), and the Chicago Fire (since 2014). He also serves as the PA announcer for the Illinois Fighting Illini men’s basketball team, a role he’s held since the 2015–16 season.
When asked about stepping into the world of ultimate, Sinclair expressed his enthusiasm:
“Doing something I haven’t done before, especially in a city like Chicago, is a really exciting opportunity,” Sinclair said. “Joining a growing organization like the Union will be an exhilarating experience.”
Sinclair said he began hearing more about ultimate during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since done extensive research to familiarize himself with the sport:
“I was aware of ultimate, but during COVID, I started hearing more about it. That sparked my interest, and since then I’ve done lots of research and talked to many people within the Union,” Sinclair said.
With his longest tenure being with the Chicago Fire, Sinclair reflected on the rise of the MLS over the years and noted that there is a great opportunity for the UFA to break through as well:
“While soccer is the most popular sport in the world, I think there is a great opportunity for ultimate to grow tremendously because once you put an impressive product on the field that is easily consumable, viewers will begin to buy in more and more,” Sinclair said.
When asked about adapting his cadence and presence to a new sport, Sinclair said that he trusts the voice he has been given and developed, but will adjust to how the crowd is feeling and the pace of the sport:
“That is something that will take time to develop. I always want to use the voice I have been given and developed over the years, but I will also have to adjust to the crowd’s energy and the pace of the game,” Sinclair said.
Sinclair has been part of many memorable moments, but two in particular stand out:
“The biggest moment for me was from the All Star Game in Cleveland in 2022 and I got to introduce the NBA 75th Anniversary and I got to narrate that moment on one of the NBA’s biggest stages,” Sinclair said. “Also, another big moment for me was Josh Giddey’s halfcourt buzzer beater in March against the Lakers.”
Sinclair asserted that on game days, Union fans should expect a concise and accurate announcer who brings energy professionally:
“I know the basics of what the team is looking for, but I know I can bring clear, concise, and correct information at all times,” Sinclair said. “I bring energy, fun, excitement with a strong sense of professionalism.”
With a just under a month until the Chicago Union’s first home game, everyone is excited to witness Sinclair's prowess live in action, narrating pivotal moments for the 2025 Chicago Union squad.
