CHICAGO—The Chicago Union has an exciting doubleheader weekend to wrap up their 2025 UFA regular season, headlining with a home matchup against the Detroit Mechanix on Saturday, July 19th at 6:00 P.M. CT. The U then takes their talents to Madison to play their final regular-season match against the Madison Radicals on Sunday, July 20th, at 5:00 P.M. CT.

Coming into this loss at 1-9, the Mechanix look to finish the year with pride and create positive momentum to head into next season. Their next two matchups are against the best teams in the Central Division: the Union and the Minnesota Wild. While Detroit is near the bottom of the league in many statistical categories, you can not show up unprepared against any team in the UFA because everyone is talented. On any given night, you can lose if you aren’t locked into the game plan at hand. The Union is nearing a flawless regular season with two games to go, so I know that co-head coaches Dave Woods and Charlie Furse have that goal in mind to stamp their legendary regular season performance!

For the Union, they are on pace to set a UFA record for the highest break percentage of all time, which is a mind-boggling feat to capture. With their next-level execution among their D-line to pair with their high-octane offensive attack, the perfect blend has been created, and no one has had an answer for the U so far. Chicago also ranks fourth in the UFA in hold percentage, which highlights how elite the Union’s O-line has been offensively as well. For the Union, Brandon Van Deusen is back active in the lineup for Saturday’s matchup, along with Xavier Payne, who has been a defensive pest this season, being amongst the top of the UFA in blocks while being a stable handler for the Union’s O-line. One of Chicago’s leading contributors, Nate Goff, is inactive for Saturday’s matchup, so other teammates must be ready to step in and fill his production. Rookie phenom Daan De Marrée is active for this matchup, providing a consistent receiving threat who is also among the top UFAs in goals. This matchup is sure to be a fantastic watch at Martin Stadium, with the opening pull set for 6:00 P.M. CT. If you are in town, be sure to grab tickets and come out to support the U!

Chicago then heads to Madison the next day for a divisional matchup against its rival, the Madison Radicals, on Sunday, June 17th, at 5:00 P.M. CT as the Union close out their regular season. The Radicals are currently sitting at 7-4, in third place in the Central division, and this could be a possible preview of the UFA Central Division Championship on Saturday, August 9th, at 5:00 P.M. CT in the postseason. The Madison Radicals aim to carry positive momentum into the postseason before their first round playoff game vs the Minnesota WindChilll. The Union will attempt to go 2-0 and this weekend as they close out their regular season and hopefully remain undefeated.
