CHICAGO — The Chicago Union will return to their home turf of Lazier Field to face the Madison Radicals this Friday, June 5, at 7:00 PM CT. The Union fell 23-20 to the Indianapolis AlleyCats last Friday in a tight match that went back and forth down to the wire. This week, Chicago plans to maintain their aggressive, fast-paced offense and hopes to bring home their first win of the young season in front of their home fans.
The Union and Radicals have a competitive history, as several players on the two teams have played for both squads. Chicago’s Henry Goldenberg and Jake Rubin-Miller both played ultimate frisbee in college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, leading to their first UFA years on the Radicals. Goldenberg spent three seasons in Madison while Rubin-Miller spent one. In 2024, both players crossed the Wisconsin-Illinois border to join the Union, playing crucial roles in Chicago’s undefeated run last summer.
Union fans may also recognize another familiar face this Friday, as former Union player Victor Luo will make his UFA return to Chicago—only this time, in opposing colors. Luo started his career in Madison, spending seven years with the Radicals, until 2025 when he joined Chicago, before jumping back to the radicals again this past offseason. Although he was well received by the loyal Union fanbase, Luo went back to where he started and has seen early success. In his first three games of the 2026 season, Luo has recorded three goals and three assists.
With strong connections between the two teams, this match-up is anticipated to be one of the most competitive and entertaining contests of the week. Madison currently sits in second place in the Central Division with a record of 2-1. The Radicals took their first loss of the season last Sunday, falling 20-23 to the first place Minnesota Wind Chill. With both teams seeking a win to stay close to the undefeated Wind Chill in the competitive Central Division, this is a battle UFA fans do not want to miss.
