With the Atlanta Hustle victory over the Carolina Flyers on July 12, the San Diego Growlers officially clinched the #3 seed in the South Division Playoffs!
The #1 seed in the South is still up for grabs and will depend on the outcome of the Carolina Flyers vs Austin Sol game on Friday, July 18. If the Sol prevail at home, Austin will clinch the top seed and the Growlers will face the Hustle in Atlanta on Friday, July 25 in the opening round of the playoffs. If the Flyers pull off the road win, the Hustle will claim the first round playoff bye and the Growlers will travel to Austin to take on the Sol on Saturday, July 26.
Regardless of the matchup, San Diego played extremely competitive and exciting games against both Atlanta and Austin in the regular season and will not be satisfied with just making the playoffs. The Growlers are hungry for more and will be motivated by those close losses earlier in the season to play their best when it matters most.
In their 10th season, the Growlers have qualified for the UFA playoffs 5 times, with 2018 being their first appearance and 2022 being their most recent stint. San Diego also earned a playoff berth in 2019 and 2021 and advanced to Championship Weekend in those same years. The path to Championship Weekend in Madison, WI on Aug 22-23, 2025 will be a tough one, with the Growlers needing to win two games on the road. But San Diego is battle tested and ready for the challenge with a talented roster that can compete with any team in the UFA.
