The Toronto Rush ended their 2025 season with a tough road loss to Montreal, 23–16. No matter how either team is doing in the standings, this rivalry always brings intensity—and this one was no different, at least for the first half.
Conditions were windy but fair, and both teams came out with full rosters. After trading a couple breaks, the game was tied at the end of both the first and second quarters. With playoff hopes already out of reach, this game was about pride—and that was more than enough to play for.
But in the third quarter, things unraveled for Toronto. A brutal six-minute stretch saw multiple miscommunications on offense and defense: basic throwaways in the backfield, missed switches, and easy goals for Montreal. The six-point deficit by the end of the quarter was just too much to claw back. This felt less like a game Montreal won, and more like one Toronto simply gave away.
The Rush O-line has struggled to find a consistent rhythm all season. At times, they relied more on flashy or ambitious passes than on a clearly defined offensive system. That said, their red zone execution has remained one of the team’s biggest strengths—driven by a diverse group of scorers, creative handlers, and most importantly, patience.
More to Come: One of the brightest spots this season has been the commitment shown by the team’s core—players currently in their prime like Luc Comire, Keith McRae, and Phil Turner (among others) have made it clear how much they care about the RUSH, leading through both their play and presence. At the same time, the next generation is already making waves. Young players like Oscar, Dax, Griffin, Zac, Araav, Harry, and Rowan (also amongst others) have stepped up with passion and talent, showing that the future of this team is in very good hands. Building a winning program takes consistency, belief, and time—and this squad is on the right path.
Unsung Hero:
Rush Ownership took some major swings this year, by bringing in several European players, as well as some out-of-town Canadian imports. Some players adapted well to the UFA game style and were key contributors on the field and established themselves as valued teammates
The full End-of-Season blog will be out soon. Until then, enjoy the playoffs, and thanks for supporting your Toronto Rush.
