Flyers 2025 Texas Road Trip Wrap Up

By Noam Gumerman

The Carolina Flyers took care of business during their final two games of the season, beating the Austin Sol 24-19 and the Houston Havoc 25-21 to end their season on a high note, despite failing to make the postseason. The Flyers were faced with the inevitable task of playing two more games, a back-to-back no less, with nothing left to play for. But despite that, they showed up and finished the season 7-5, only missing the playoffs on a head-to-head tiebreaker with the San Diego Growlers.

The Flyers were in control of both games throughout, losing just two of the eight quarters they played on their Texas road trip. Against Austin, the Flyers built and maintained a big lead throughout the first three quarters, generating defensive pressure and converting break opportunities the way they did throughout their five game winning streak. It took Austin until the final period to get any meaningful headway against a humming Flyers offense and buzzing Flyers defense, and even then, it was too little, too late.

Against Houston, the Flyers looked poised to run away with the game after a hot start, and given that they’d done the same thing to Houston earlier in the year. But the Havoc struck back, turning a four-point first quarter deficit into a one-point halftime gap. But in their final half of play in the 2025 season, the Flyers class showed, and they pulled away to earn the win.

Allan Laviolette continued his MVP campaign with joint-team leading (4) and team-leading (7) assist numbers in the first and second games respectively. Laviolette finishes the 2025 season as the league leader in assists with 67. Terrence Mitchell came up huge when the Flyers needed him too, especially against Houston (team-leading 7 goals) and against Austin too (joint-leading 4).

The Flyers finish their season fourth in the South Division.
