The Carolina Flyers are heading back down to Atlanta to finish their game against the Hustle from two weeks ago that was suspended due to lightning, and then play a whole new game as well. It’ll be a strange occurrence for sure, but on the bright side, fans get some extra action this Saturday to make up for a couple weeks ago during the delay. The game that the Atlanta Hustle leads 8-7 will continue at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, and the regularly scheduled game for this week will start at 7:30 p.m.
The Flyers are looking to rebound and get their first win of the season after they fell at home to the DC Breeze last weekend 20-18. While the Flyers were always in the game, they struggled with shot selection on hucks last week, and couldn’t generate enough blocks in crunch time to give their offense a chance to mount a comeback. Be on the lookout for a more controlled approach on offense from the Flyers, similar to what they showed in the first quarter and change of their game against the Hustle that got interrupted. In that game, the Flyers threw just two hucks and completed them both in about one-third of a game of action. Last week, the Flyers threw 11 hucks and only completed six of them across the whole game, in a situation where an extra possession or two would’ve really changed things.
It’s a very unique experience to have to come back to a game that was suspended in the middle in ultimate, as the Flyers have to do this weekend. And it’s even harder when your situation has changed from starting the season with a clean slate, to looking to rebound from a loss and having two games that will be decided in such a short amount of time. But it’s a good opportunity for this group to practice handling adversity, especially if they want to return to Championship Weekend and complete last year’s unfinished business.
