Carolina Flyers vs DC Breeze Preview

By Noam Gumerman

Let’s try that again, shall we? After last week’s game against Atlanta Hustle was suspended in the second quarter (at 8-7 Hustle), the Carolina Flyers will (hopefully) finish their first full game of the 2025 season at home, this Saturday, May 10, at 6:00 p.m. at Durham County Memorial Stadium. Their opponents will be the 1-1 DC Breeze, who are heading down south for an interdivisional clash. The Breeze and Flyers have played eight times previously in their history, with the visiting Breeze holding a narrow edge in the all-time series 5-3. It should be a close game between these two talented teams, as the Flyers' game last week was suspended at 8-7, and both of DC’s games played so far went down to the wire (19-18 over Toronto, 15-16 against Philadelphia).

In the limited action from last week, there were glimpses of what the 2025 Flyers would be. They hucked just twice in a quarter and half of action against Atlanta last week, compared with the 2024 team that finished both games at Championship Weekend with over 20 in each game. And while there were some familiar faces at the helm and as the statistical leaders for the Flyers with Allan Laviolette (2G) Grayson Sanner (2A, 1G) and William Coffin (2A) off to strong starts. But there were new faces for the Flyers making strong impacts as well, highlighted by Rutledge Smith’s (2A, 1B) hot start to last week’s game.

Being at home, the Flyers should have a full roster for Week 3’s clash against the Breeze to work with. They have a coaching staff confident in their gameplan for DC, and are hungry to get out there and play a full four quarters of action for the first time in the 2025 season. It should be a fantastic game, head on out to Durham County Memorial Stadium this Satruday evening to catch all the action!

Additionally, the UFA has stated that the suspended Week 2 game will conclude next week, May 17, before the scheduled Week 4 game at Atlanta.
