Single point games are intense. Every point has an added significance, mistakes are amplified, and oftentimes the fans get to see athletes in peak performance.
While Saturday’s contest between the Toronto Rush and DC Breeze did not look to be a one-point contest until very late, all of the above featured in the end.
As I write the very first sentence of this Tuesday Toss, I’m already worried that the column will be too long. And for me, your verbose, long-form ultimate scribe, to be fretting about that this early, it’s troubling.
I have strived to embrace brevity more regularly this season—if you haven’t noticed, the 2018 Toss has been closer to 5,000 words than 7,500 each week—but sometimes there are just so many stories to be told.
The DC Breeze had trailed most of night. No matter the intensity by the D-line or the strategy by the coaching staff, the Toronto Rush stayed one step ahead. DC kept clawing on their home turf looking to get an advantage on the Rush, but all was to no avail.
The DC Breeze (4-4-1) welcome the Toronto Rush (8-0) to the District for the first time this season. This contest will be the second meeting between the two AUDL East Division rivals in 2018.
