The San Jose Spiders will play their second home game of the season this Saturday, June 26 at 6:30 PM/PT at Oakland Tech High School. They’ll take on the undefeated Austin Sol for the first time in franchise history.
The Spiders fell to the San Diego Growlers this past weekend, dropping to 1-2 on the year and tied for fourth place in the division. They’ll look to get back on track this week against the Austin Sol, who have been the surprise team of the West through the first three weeks. After taking down the Dallas Roughnecks in Week 2, the Sol defeated the Los Angeles Aviators in overtime last week; both teams have had at least one appearance at AUDL Championship Weekend over the past few seasons.
Despite the loss this past weekend, several Spiders rookies impressed for the young team as they continue to find their footing in the AUDL. Jordan Kerr out of BYU has continued to put up numbers this season, tacking on five goals and two assists to his season total. He completed all 29 of his throws and led the team in plus/minus, a measure of a player’s overall statistical impact. Jace Bruner from University of California tallied two more blocks to bring his season total to five, and Jake Thorne from Cal Poly SLO added two assists to round out the rookie contributions.
