Player Chatter: Divisional Championships

“Player Chatter” is a series consisting of player quotes, thoughts, and feelings from around the league. All current AUDL players were sent a handful of prompts earlier this week designed to be as open-ended as possible. Additionally, players were asked to vote in a single-question, multiple choice survey.

Bryce Merrill - Shred (new)

Bryce has been the head coach of the Shred since its inception.

Bryce comes to the team having played Open club (Orem Killjoys, Utah Powderhogs, Provo Madd Dogg), and college (BYU, 2004-2007). Bryce has also coached several teams in the last 15 years, including youth, college (BYU Womens 2010-2012, BYU Mens 2012-Current), womens club (Utah Elevate, 2017-2019) and most recently in the WUL (Utah Wild, 2021).

Justin McKeen - Shred

Eric Christensen - Shred

Eric founded the University of Utah college ultimate team. He has been an assistant coach for the Shred since its inaugural season, focusing mostly on the D line.

Austin Eliminates Carolina

For the first time since 2019, the Carolina Flyers will not be playing at Championship Weekend. The Austin Sol held strong at home this past weekend in round one of the playoffs, taking down the Flyers 19-18 in Texas. The game marked Austin's first playoff win in franchise history and the second time the Sol have defeated the Flyers in the past two seasons (six meetings total in that span). Next, the Sol will face the Atlanta Hustle in Atlanta on Friday, August 11 at 8:00 PM/ET in the South Division Championship Game.
