On Club Soccer night at Hope Sports Complex, the Detroit Mechanix took to the field in hopes of evening the score against the Indianapolis AlleyCats, who won on their home turf just two weeks prior. As the sun set and the lights came on, the stage became a battleground for two teams that love to hate each other. One team would travel home victorious, whilst the other would wonder what their season would become.

Two weeks after their close loss at home, the Detroit Mechanix grinded out another gritty game against their rivals in Indianapolis. In front of a Mechanix crowd that nearly matched as many fans as the AlleyCats had, everyone was ready to see one of two teams take home their first win of the season. As Head Coach Brent Steepe said in the last huddle before gametime, “There’s nothing more to say, there’s only work to do.”

In front of nearly 300 people at Hope Sports Complex in Lansing, Michigan, the Detroit Mechanix opened the season with a very competitive game against the Pittsburgh Thunderbirds. With many Mechanix playing their first points of the season against a team that had just played the week before, there was certainly a statement to make to start the 2025 season. The McLaren and Lambo groups had been working hard all preseason; now it’s time to make their mark.
